Photographer's Note
Here is the better Beta version DOUBLE XX.
The double X you see is just for photography purposes, but that actual art installation is suppose to be a "W", a 140 foot long "W" made from 4 shipping containers.
I thought this was the perfect follow up photo to my previous post, the blue hour shot of the Sky Train bridge. Here you can see it in the daytime in the bg. It would be better placed infront of the X, more to the left, but then the water reflections didn't work out properly.
This is the best angle to show off the XX in the reflections. I will however, show more angles in the WS, showing the bridge in a more proper view.
What you're looking at are 4 trailers, used as an art instillation. This is one of those photos I took a year ago, but forgot to post it. For obvious reasons, this scene is best taken after a rainfall, using the large puddles as a mirror.
On the left side, in the far bg, you can see the Patullo Bridge in orange and blue, it connects Surrey and New Westminster.
Whats great about this new art instillation, is that it used to be a bad area of New Westminster. Now they've cleaned it up, added this artwork, added a basketball court, added a beach volleyball court, a sweet wooden walking path that illuminates at night...its now a beautiful area along the Fraser River. It's gone from a bad industrial area to a highly desired area.
This is one place I was going to take Lars and Rob when they visited, but I didn't have enough time.
Hopefully you'll check out the WS's, 1 photo has a couple walking by, and it doesn't have reflections. The other is a photo where you can see the large span of the Sky Train bridge

Hello Craig again,
Why you waited so long with this picture? It is really cool with reflections in the puddles after rain. The installation is interesting but shown like this is fantastic.

Big W on the WS photo, but with the "help" of a reflection we get a big X. A nice and special idea to take this specific POV with the two bridges as a complementary objects.
Bravo for that beauty, Craig.
Have a nice new day,

Hello Craig,
I just have to say, "superb!"
I was immediately attracted to this shot because of its dynamic impact.
I first perceived it as some construction in the river but then, on closer inspection, realised that it was a puddle reflection (before I read your notes) and the whole scene altered in my mind. It made me realise the power of the image!
The crosses seem to be holding hands , such a strong image! They are on a completely different line to the two bridges.
The two work shops are good but this right up there with the best!
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Craig,
A splendid graphical composition. I like very much the point of view encompassing the various elements to great effect. The image is perfectly exposed with superb colours and clarity, and those lovely reflections of course.

Quelle belle photo. Des V qui se transforment en X avec les beaux reflets dont tu as parfaitement utilisé les effets. Belle série de ponts en arrière plan.

Hi Craig,
I like the way you have captured the design of the double X created by the reflections on the water. The point of view is showing the details of the bridges. Well done, have a nice day.

Hello Craig,
In Brussels there's also one trailer positioned more or less like the four here. I've often thought of taking a picture but the street doesn't look much appealing. Perhaps I should go after rain and hope to find a large puddle :)
Here you managed to put the different reflections nicely on a row. The two bridges make an excellent background for the art installation.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Graig,
nice the view of the double X or W i saw with the first glance before to read your note. The created reflections on the surface of the water and the outline against the cloudy sky makes the image even more attractive.

Hello Craig
I like the composition with the fg suspension rail bridge framing the bg 'coathanger' arched bridge. The double x formed by the reflection completes the scene. Tfs!

Hello Craig
This is really a spectacular picture. Looking at the thumbnail and looking at the title I thought for a moment that you post an equivalent of double crossed fingers for the recovering of the TE-site, but looking to the large version I found out that it is even better than that. I think it is an appeal for a new visit to Vancouver and a continuation of the full program you had in mind for our visit.
Splendid !!!
Have a nice day. Groet Rob

Hi Craig,
fantastic composition! I like very much the presence of the two bridges and the 4 containers in the foreground. I prefer the reflection than the walking couple. The reflection doubles the treat, enhances so much the geometry.
Great spot, I would get back there a lot!
Excellent work,

Hello Craig,
I saw this last week but was thrown out from the site before I had time to write a critique. It is quite an ingenious work of public art and the bridge provides an equally impressive background. But one question arises: Is the XX effect just a lucky coincidence, seen only after rainfall, or was it the intention of the artist to create a work mainly for rainy days. Or was this only meant to be a VV installation?
Best wishes,
Gert

Hi, Craig.
A sensational composition, extremely original with all these modern elements, such as the gigantic X by the effect of formidable reflections, the structures of the two bridges complete a set of beautiful elements in the composition.
Great color, very good brightness and perfect sharpness.
Well done. I like very much.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.

Hello Craig
A very cool artwork and a super-cool shot. You got just enough water in the puddle to get a stunning effect of the reflected steel boxes. The two bridges and especially the organge and blue one and its reflection are a nice addition. It is very exciting to walk in areas that have gone through such changes, isn`t it. We have areas like that here too. Lovely work:) TFS.

Hello, Craig!
Would it be an advertisement for the Mexican beer Dos Equis XX (Double X, in English)? The shape is very interesting here, and it is even greater with the reflection on the water! Very good light, colors and sharpness! Wonderful job!
