Photographer's Note
July 30, 2005
After a good night, we begin our tour in direction of the Rocky Mountains. A first stop with the lake Harrison to see the sand castles. This place is famous to organize the most important competitions of this kind on the American continent. If you want to know some more, will see their website.

Hello, Jacques!
Very interesting place, I didn't know about it! Good cadre with deep perspective and wonderful contrast. Thanks for showing it!

The scale of these structures really play with the mind here. The kids in the inflatables bring back the right sense of perspective. Very well seen & captured, Bert.

Spectacular, Jacques, very spectacular. And such a huge area too - cropped so we don't see the inflatables it would look like some Indian temple area in front of the Himalayas... ;o) And here it looks very nice in front of the mountain range. My only suggestion would be to crop off the hut and the flags, leaving only one inflatable in - for size - and the sand castles 'pure'. Well done!

A bientôt ! Chantal

My brother once photographed these sand sculptures in 3D on slide film. I think the contrast of sand castles with blue and green mountains is weird. Not sure if the contrasts work here. Maybe they would from another angle or from a greater height. Something just seems akward in this composition, especially where you have given us a wonderful mountain background that seems robbed of naturalness by manmade sand images...

Surprenant !..
