The Vermilion lakes are situated on the west side of Banff. It is a large marshy extent. You will found 3 lakes. The name of Vermilion come from the colours of the ferruginous sources that you found here. The indian tribes have used these materials for their body paintings of ceremony.

The picture shows you the lake 2. In the middle you have the Sulphur mountain and on the left, the Rundle mountain (2949 m).
