Photographer's Note

This is another historic building in Paris, Ontario. Built in 1845 as a modest two story home of Hiram Capron, the founder of Paris. In 1887 it was purchased by industrialist John Permanvian, who turned it into a Victorian mansion. He willed the building to the Presbyterian church, but by the 1970s the church could no longer afford to maintain it, so it was sold. In 1987 it was turned into a modern retirement home, but preserved its original character .
