The Library of Celsus (114–117 CE) is perhaps the most famous building in the ruined city of Ephesus (Efes), which dates from pre-Biblical times (10th century BC). In the 3rd century an earthquake destroyed the main building. Or perhaps a Goth invasion or fire? The facade was destroyed by an earthquake in the 10th or 11th centuries & lay in ruins until it was painstakingly reconstructed by archaeologists between 1970 and 1978.
