Photographer's Note

There are many many sides to Istanbul and thanks to the efforts of our TE friends Jerzy and I got to see so many different aspects of it - this street near the Grand Bazaar was a favourite for me that I discovered on my first full day in the city. This is part of a more timeless Istanbul where gangs of men help each other to load the lorries and men struggle up the steep inclines with impossible loads..........perhaps I am coming here with my posts first out of an appreciation and love for the earlier shots of Istanbul by Izzet and Ara Güler and other urban photographers around the world pre and post war ................but perhaps there is also a little nostalgia at the age of 50 for the things I witnessed as a kid in the UK.

It is so tempting for me to self critique this one but I'll resist!!
