The Library of Celsus (114–117 CE) is perhaps the most famous building in the ruined city of Ephesus (Efes), which dates from pre-Biblical times (10th century BC). In the 3rd century an earthquake destroyed the main building. Or perhaps a Goth invasion or fire? The facade was destroyed by an earthquake in the 10th or 11th centuries & lay in ruins until it was painstakingly reconstructed by archaeologists between 1970 and 1978. What a magnificent place. The fine sunlight shows the library in all its splendour and the inclusion of the many visitors shows the scale of the place. Excellent work!

It may be in ruins, but this building still knows how to impress. The well chosen point of view shows the magnificence of the architecture to great effect and sets it in context. The people animate the scene and supply scale. Ideal exposure brings out the colours and textures to perfection.

You found a good balance between ruins and people in this place. Both elements are important for an interesting composition. Less important but pleasing to the eye is the clear sky and bright light.

La présence des gens anime la scène. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des ruines de la librairie de Celsus. La qualité de la lumière embellit les couleurs de l'image. Bonne soirée.

Hello Chris My dear friend Our Serbian library was destroyed by Hitler's bombs, in 1941 to the foundation. Then the barbarians were in 1999 on the threshold of the third millennium, NATO bombing also destroyed a large part of the library and cinematheque in Belgrade. A good that could come as tourists these beautiful with your photos, to visit Belgrade and Serbia. In Greece, at least the rest of the ruins. As always wonderful photos. Kind regards Saša

I regret not visiting this place when I was in Turkey, well, perhaps next time.
having all the people around give it scale, and something we can relate to. love the pitting on the stone in the fg, and the overall colour contrasts of yellows and blues work well.
excellent sharpness with plenty of detailing. cheers

This is a nice photo of an oft-photographed place. I wonder how hot it was in July. My favorite time for visiting Ephesus was September.
PS. To reply to your critique on Spring in New Castle, how about a compromise, how about cropping right above the overhead wire? I added a WS photo.

An imposing sight of the ancient ruins, preserved well through the centuries, and looks to be superbly maintained.
As said many times: people/visitors scale greatly the whole, can only imagie how the place looked back in old times.
Have a nice new day,

stunning view. Very well preserved ruins. It must have been spectacular when it was intact!
I had the pleasure to visit some spots in Turkey but although this is one of the most touristy places in the country -it was a bit out of range. I thought I will do it next time -but with the current climate it becomes more and more distant to me.
Great composition, by taking few steps back you made the people into scale markers and the crowd does not disturb anymore, plus of course having some context in the foreground makes it so much more interesting,
