Photographer’s Note

The easiest approach to Petra (that means stone in Greek) is through a a mile-long dry torrent bed called Siq. This is the first building that appears at the end of that path. It is called the Treasury (although its purpose was probably a royal tomb or a temple, not a treasury). The whole city is carved in sandstone and dated approximately from 9th century BC - 4th century AD.
