Photographer's Note
This was taken while my Reserve duty in Gaza, February 2004.
This shot was taken before going on a morning patrol in Gaza. A patrol that always manges to surprise us with god know what.
In jewish relegion we say a prayer upon embarking on a journey. This is my friend Ilan in a minute of prayer.
We came back safe

Gilad, I like they way you have cropped the image, the expression of his face. Cropping a part of the helmet, and the hands are very effective. Also the grayscale make it very effective.

Gilad, good job, like it very much. Photo speaks for itself - wish you all peace, shalam, salem.

Croping so tightly gives the image alot of tension, I also like high contrast of this image, noise and sepia add to the atmoshere of the image.

This composition is like photo-journalism. I like the B&W mode so it enhances the scene. The light on the helmet is terrific. It could be a photo from Apocalypse Now.
One word: Bravo!

Powerful image of prayer. Excellent composition. Blownout highlight on arms are not distracting, as the blownout highlight on the helmut makes up for the interest. Would have cleaned up what looks like a dust speck on the upper middle. But a great shot!

very strong composition and posing. the light is strong both on the hands which are our interface with the world, yet in the same time stress the helmet, that blocks the very same world.
the high granularly helps deliver a the confined space in which the soldier is found.

Wow, that is a powerful shot there. Being in the military myself I know exactly how that can feel. Great shot.

Really nice shot Gilad and very fitting in b&w. Was this shot in RAW? If so, I would tend to pull the exposure down just a bit. Maybe composing just a little lower, so his hands weren't cropped would be a touch better, but overall this is really powerful.
