Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

Having introduced Montepulciano in my last series, I would like to show you a beautiful building, the town hall, set in the Piazza Grande.

The Piazza Grande is Montepulciano’s showy stage set, in all its historical splendour. This is the chief setting for summer festivals, open-air concerts under the stars and even the occasional film set. The main square sits at the town’s highest point, both culturally and geographically. The town hall is set on one side and is of 14th-century origin. Its Italian name is Palazzo Comunale and it is a miniature version of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.

I liked this oblique view which showed the many small arches, seemingly to impress, rather than contain statues.

As a workshop, I will show a front view of the structure here and another workshop, here just for interest!

Enjoy your day, Bev :-)
