The Causeway to Crammond Island

Crammond is a small town located north-west of Edinburgh. Crammond Island is the island shown in the distance in the Firth of Forth in this photo.

This is as far as you can walk on the causeway when the tide is in. You can see the tide going out (choppy water on the left, calm on the right), and in a matter of hours the stretch from here to the island will have drained, exposing the path. People do very occasionally get stuck on the island when the tide comes in because they didn't read the charts, but if you have half a brain, the only dangers are slippery rocks and becoming mesmerized by the views ;)
