Photographer's Note

Eilean Donna Castle, home to clan McRae, in the Scottish highlands is one of Scotlands most iconic signs and has been featured in many films such as Highlander. Though the rock where Loch Dutch, Loch Long and Loch Also meet was inhabited by monks as early as the 6th century, the first fortified castle dates from the 13th century. The site was raided several times by the Vikings and was gunned to ruins by the English at the Jacobite revolution when a Spanish garrison held the fort. Today the rebuilt castle can be visited and is still in the hands of the McRae family.
