Photographer's Note

For my next photo from my Saturday trip to Healy Dell in Rochadale, Lancashire I decided to revisit the same location as I photographed on my first visit there around Christmas time.

Last time I was there I took this shot which included the viaduct and a lot of the sky in the background. This time I decided to exclude this completely from the shot and just concentrate on the falls and the large rock in the foreground, as I thought it made a more effective composition overall.

One of the main things that disappointed me about my previous attempt at this shot was the look of the water as I used a really long exposure. This time I shot in shutter-priority mode and fixed the exposure time at 0.5s and I this time I've got the misting and implied movement I wanted without it losing form completely and going too fluffy.

So what do you think? Do you prefer may original attempt or this one? Have I improved? Any and all feedback is much appreciated.

Only one more composition to go in this series, and then I'll stop boring you all with shots of Healy Dell!

Cheers
Simon
