Photographer's Note

A re-enactment.

The Battle of Culloden was fought on 16 April 1746 some 200 miles north of this point, but watching this made me think of the terrible experience it must have been for the men and women of the time. March for 2 days through bog and heather, eating little and sleeping less. Then you charge headlong across rough heather moor, in the rain and wind, through cannon smoke hoping at least to survive in one piece long enough to face your adversary in the flesh, who is probably just as terrified as you are.
