Photographer's Note

LIVERPOOL I've been visiting usually once or twice a year for about twenty years now. Usually I just pop over for a long weekend of football and pubs with the mates. Over the years the pubs and the mates have become more important than the football.

I've seen the city change a lot over the years, but I loved the place from the very first time I set foot in it, leaving Lime Street Station and going for a first pint in the Crown.

This time was different, because I visited Liverpool with my wife and daughter and I took my camera along. I never take a camera with me when I go to football matches or concerts, as it kind of gets in the way of the experience for me.

Another thing was...the weather was amazing. While the rest of Europe suffered in mist, rainstorms and whatever, Liverpool was basking in the sunshine.

So, here comes the sun...

This picture shows the old Albert Docks, a part of the old harbour that has now been converted into a pleasant leisure area with shops, restaurants and museums, including The Beatles Story and the renowned Tate Liverpool.

A walk around the docks is a steady fixture on any trip in Liverpool.
