Photographer's Note

Dartmoor is an area of moorland in southern Devon, England. It is protected by National Park status and covers 954 km2.

The moorland is capped with many exposed granite hilltops known as tors and the entire area is rich in antiquities and archaeology.

This picture depicts high moorland, not far from Bennett's Cross, near the road from Moretonhampstead to Two Bridges.

If you look closely, you can spot the outlines of an ancient settlement or house.

A hard and lonely place to live.
