Photographer's Note
He’s back…! And this time he has a new camera too…
A bit of soul searching the last week or so with regards to posting at TrekEarth, since discovering the site I found that it was taking so much time up, and time that I haven’t really got to spare, in fact I was getting up at 5.30am just to do critiques, not an ideal situation.
Initially I decided it was probably better if I stopped posting altogether, but that was a little harsh, so… it’s back to posting pictures, but a slight change, I’m only going to post two or three critiques a day from now on, hopefully everyone will understand, that if I don’t add a critique along with others on some of the brilliant pictures that are posted here every day, you’ll know it’s not because I don’t love them, I do, just so little time in the day!
Anyway, today’s picture, once in a while we all get a totally unexpected shot, this was taken today with my new camera, a 4 megapixel, 8x optical zoom model (which I think is absolutely brilliant!) it was going to be just a picture of a duck swimming, but fortune tapped me on the shoulder and just as I pressed the shutter the duck decided to preen itself, I was so pleased with the result when I loaded it into the pc later on that day!

A qute duck with a mind for the "looks"......
Very nice snapshot indeed, and all the best with your future TE-plan & camera!!!
I only think you should crop away the bright spot down in the branches on the left......
In my opinion it steals away some of the attention of the duck...

Seems that you made a good choice with that new camera, the picture is so sharp and colors so natural. Glad you didn't quit completely, your critiques are always valuable, but I understand, I have the same problem with time.
This duck cleaning himself is great. I first thought that it was ashame it was not on the right side of the picture, but since he is looking backward, well that should balance the scene. If the duck had let you time maybe you could have avoided the golden vegetation to the bottom left. And why not crop half way between the top of the picture and the duck, too much water there.
