Photographer's Note

If you make a cut in the rock for a road etc. the ground water will seap out through the surface of the cut. In the winter this water will freeze and form ice statues.
This picture was taken at a new sight I have found in Borlänge. It is the outlet canal of one of our four hydropower plants and one of the rock faces is covered with ice like this for its total length, some 200 m or so. This is really in a ugly place where noone ever goes but still quite close to my home. Behind my back across the main riverarm there is a big papermill so this is absolutely not a quiet nature scenery.
The water in the canal has a thin crust of ice too. I tried to take more pictures with harder light another day but that blow out the whites and without the ice the reflection was not as good. The eye could see it but not a camera on 1/500 s.
