Photographer's Note

This is a bit different from most of my photos, but I couldn't resist the red against green and the people walking along the water on this sunny day.

Large parts of Sweden, and probably all of the Nordic countries, have experienced an almost unprecedented heatwave for this time of the year. Until today there has hardly been a single cloud in the sky above Stockholm for almost two weeks, with a temperature between 22 and 27°C . It has been the longest such warm period in May for at least 25 years. Only today the temperature has fallen considerably.

I took this photo last Sunday as I went for a walk along the southern side of Södermalm island, an area mainly consisting of parks and gardens surrounding small cottages where city people spend their spare time. A narrow bay of Lake Mälaren separates the island from the mainland, up to where Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea.

Here is a larger version.

I took many more photos as I continued my Sunday afternoon walk. One shows just people and trees, another people enjoying the sun on a jetty.
