Photographer's Note

This is a photograph I took in the Las Ramblas Street, in Barcelona.
While promenading in that busy central artery of the city, you can see lots of people-statues, dressed according to a certain theme and posing for tourists. If you just want to look at them you can enjoy the view as long as you want, but if you try to take pictures they will imediately point at the money jarr they have at their feet, some even have a huge piece of cardboard on a glove or nearby, to hold in front of your camera, stoping you from taking a picture of them, unless you pay.

I guess it's only fair that these people get some money for their artistry and patience, but, for instance, the lady in this picture actualy complained about the ammount of money I put in the jarr because I took 8 pictures of them, and she said that the amount wasnt reasonable for so many pictures.
Is that art?
To pay per picture you take of them?
I imediately asked her if she gave any contribution or had any permission from the Gala-Dali foundation to wear costumes inspired by that artist...to wich she didnt reply, of course. Besides, I think that the more photos we spread of these people, the more tourists will be curious about them, and go to the ramblas to see the, and contribute with some money for their work ... but I guess they know little or nothing about Marketing.

Still, it's nice to watch them, specialy being a total Dali fan, as I confess to be.

I like the way the 18 mm lens enhanced the perspective, pulling the cyan character apart from the golden one.

PP included cloning out some people and a garbage cart from behind the actors, re-balancing colour and lightness to enhance their contrast with the background, and framing the picture, ...besides the normal unsharp mask, indispensable when you shrink a photo this much, and the ever-present Curves adjustment. Actualy, the cloning was so extensive that I will post the original picture in a workshop.

Awaiting your comments.
