Hanging umbrellas over a street seems to have become a world-wide craze in recent years. They create good photo opportunities, and maybe these would even offer some protection for pedestrians in case of a shower. As you mention, the balance between a sunny side and a shady side is part of the charm of this photo. I gave you a chance to show your skill at exposure.

I think it's a splendid and very colourful view.
Umbrellas hanging over the street has become popular on different places. But so far I haven't seen it anywhere with my own eyes.
Exellent clarity all over the image and yet a nice difference between the sunlit part and the other part in the shade.

Beautiful and original perspective of this street covered with multitude of umbrellas of varied color, a similar photo I have seen in these pages, in the gallery of "anadores" of a Portuguese population that do the same.

You are right, this is a brilliant shot with the contrast between left and right lighting. I remember the images you posted before but this one is also very special.
