Photographer's Note

Tomar history goes back to the eleven hundreds when land in the area was given to the Knights of the Temple of Jerusalem by the then Queen Dona Teresa and her son Dom Alfonso Henriques. The castle built than defended central Portugal until the 17th century.
The castle that include the Converto-de-Cristo monastery that recieved water from the Pegoes-Aqueduct, pic. posted , seen throughout the town, here from an alley in the old town.
