Photographer's Note

Monte Gordo is a tourist town in the eastern part of the Algarve, near the border with Spain. Monte Gordo has a population of 3300 but sandy beach attracts thousands of tourists every year, and the convenient location allows to explore the Algarve region and to make trips to Spain.
Once it was a quiet fishing village. After the earthquake in 1755 and following tsunami fishermen lost their houses, only a few fishermen lived in the village.
In 1960s of the 20th century the first modern hotels were buit here and the town became a notable seaside resort.
In my photo you can see one of the biggest hotels, looking from a distance like a pyramid.
