Photographer's Note

A pleasant overnight stop in central Portugal is the small provencial town of Viseu, the commercial center for the Dao wine region.
Already an important center during the roman occupation it has a long history with a pretty old town and an imposing cathedral. Many good hiking trails follow the river Pavia trough the adjoining hills and forests.
Visible here is the Sé do Viseu, the cathedral, built in the 15th century. It has a very well preserved old cloister to show.
Among the many well known sons and daughters of the city where several painters from the painters school Grao Vasco.
