Photographer's Note

This picture is taken in the Calypso cave outside Xaghra on the Maltese island Gozo. When we arrived a guy sold us candles for an outrageous price (and he wanted the stumps back afterwards) so one candle each was our only lightsources while crawling this long and narrow cave. Very cozy, but one sudden gust of wind and we'd all be in complete darkness. :)

I had no tripod for this picture but held the camera steady against a rock.

This can be read about the Calypso cave
"Calypso Cave (Gozo) - Cave, overlooking the red sands of Ramla Bay and situated in the cliffface some distance from Xaghra, has a legendary conection with beautifull nymph Calypso. She kept there Odysseus (from Homer´s "The Odyssey") as a "Prisoner of Love" for seven years. Calypso promissed him immortality if he´d remain with her but he escaped and returned to his wife Penelope."
