Guadamello
Locality of the municipality of Narni, in the province of Terni, built on a rocky spur, includes about 250 inhabitants, is located at 275 m s.l.m. The village is divided into two parts: Guadamello Nuovo and Guadamello Vecchio, from which you can admire the underlying lake named San Liberato (formerly Lake Serena) for its proximity to the plain to this hamlet. It has been a protected fauna oasis for some decades.
The name appears to be derived from the Longobard-Byzantine Gaita-Melo, that is, Melo or Melos guard (perhaps this was the very name of a fortified Byzantine militant commander). There are extensive archaeological finds in the area ranging from prehistory to the Middle Ages.
