Villa di Belvedere – Spoleto (PG)
Few people know it, but the Municipality of Spoleto is part of the Valnerina, three of its hamlets in fact, Le Cese, Belvedere and Ancaiano, overlooking the splendid Nera valley, in an environmental context of incomparable beauty.
Of the three hamlets, now almost depopulated, the most panoramic is Belvedere, located a short distance from Ancaiano, of which it has always shared the historical events.
Villa never fortified lies on a gentle slope, characterized by the presence of numerous tower-houses with dovecotes, some of considerable architectural quality, in particular the highest where there is an interesting aedicule with the Madonna and Child on the inside.
The town is separated into two parts, at the center of which is the lovely Church of Santa Maria della Cerasola.
Near Belvedere, in the locality of Mezzanello, there is a small building of remarkable architectural quality, presumably the property of the Ancaiani, continuing to descend you meet the tiny town of Salari, not without characteristic architectural elements. TO FIND OUT MORE: VILLA DI BELVEDERE
