The village of belongs to the municipality of Acquasparta in the province of Terni, region Umbria.
The village of Macerino rises 665 meters above sea level.
The population of 7 Macerino resident population.
Stands atop a high hill, reached from Portaria and fork down from Cima, is set amidst a landscape of vast forests that stretch all around it, right on the slopes of the same.
The place was frequented since Roman times: the discovery of an early Christian sarcophagus (fourth century) testifies. It belongs to the matron Ponza, fell from the coach during a trip to Trier (now preserved at the Museo Civico di Spoleto). The first historical dates back to 1093. Being in the middle of the territory of the mountains Martan, on the road of communication between Acquasparta and Spoleto, it was also the capital of Terre Arnolfe, then the vicar of the said domain moved to Cesi. Had jurisdiction over the nearby hill Aiano, Fogliano, Villa Villa Fields and Paganica.
Mel 1527, together with Porzano, relying on the protection of Spoleto.
There was a palace built in the Community (Massarucci palace, XVI century), still exists today, fronted by a small square with a pit. The castle still remains, with houses packed inside.
The walls are still in excellent condition, as well as the four corner towers. The village, built entirely of stone, has been recently restored and many homes are owned by foreign nationals.
It was used for the filming of the TV movie "The way back," with Sophia Loren and Sabrina Ferilli.
