Castle of Sismano - Avigliano Umbro (TR)
The imposing 11th century fortification has a rectangular plan; spread over five floors it extends into two semi-circular towers placed in the outer corners of the building. The complex, located above a rampart embankment, stands out in all its bulk to dominate the territory below.
Inside the castle, known to all as "the farm", there was the mill to grind the abundant crops of olives, the kitchen where they were made daily pecorino cheese and ricotta, the milling of seeds, grain warehouses etc . In the cellars the wine was stowed in large barrels, while in the smaller ones the vinegar was kept.
