Arrone is a town of 2.791 inhabitants of the province of Terni. The two-thousand-year history of the village is evidenced by the discovery of a travertine stone, of a marble slab with an inscription at the church of San Lorenzo in Tripozzo, of a female marble head dating back to the II century. a.C., of some small bronzes and a seal coming from a probable sanctuary on the top of the mountain of Arrone. However, according to the documentary sources, Arrone derives its name from the noble family Arroni, who according to the historic Foligno Ludovico Iacobilli founded it in the IX century AD.
