Photographer's Note

Monterosso is the northest of the five villages of the Cinque Terre. It dates back to the roman era. The ancient latin name for this Roman colony is Rubra. It is the largest of the five villages of the cinque terre and has more hotels than the others. It's large beach is accesible to everyone and as you can see it's quite safe for children too. But that means that in high season crowds of turists are on the beach and if you are trying to relax, Cinque Terre hide hidden paradises. In my opinion Monterosso is for family holidays and a good starting point to explore the rest of the place. Manarola is my recommendation for couples.

Monterosso is accessable by train (direct link from Genova and La Spezia), the local bus and by car.
