The coast of the prefecture of Larissa and the municipal district of Sklithro at 67.5 km from Larissa and altitude: 440 m at the Sklithro it has 300 inhabitants. It was founded during the Ottoman rule in the current naturally fortified position, to avoid pirate attacks. Indeed, the tradition says that the position was a perennial Sklithro, which gave him the name that remained until today. The old Turkish name Kestene-Kioi ie Kastanochori refers to the wild and planted chestnut honey for use during the Turkish occupation.
