Photographer's Note

The winery Achaia Clauss produces annually around 30 million liters of wine, it is specialized in the production of red wine called Mavrodaphne.
This wine has been known since 1850.
In the cellars of the wine cellar, barrels with 100-year-old wine are stored.

In the past, the winery was visited by many people, among others Melina Merkuri, Empress Sissi of Austria, General Montgomery, Alexander Fleming, King Gustav Adolf of Sweden, Aristotelis Onassis, Omar Sharif and many others.
Many barrels are dedicated to famous people, for example there is a wine barrel dedicated to Irena Szewinska (1946-2018), a Polish sportswoman, athlete and sports activist.

Interesting facts:
Among the old barrels are the world's largest twin wine barrels weighing 14 tons each.
Many barrels are beautifully decorated, with bas-reliefs on the bottoms.

In the picture you can see a barrel with a bas-relief depicting a mythological scene.
