Hello friends and colleagues, today I offer you this beautiful house in the beautiful city of Bergheim, I hope you like it, then some letters about the town.

Bergheim is a French commune, located in the department of Haut-Rhin, in the Alsace region.
Enchanting medieval city, due to its location on the edge of upper and lower Alsace, had a rich and tumultuous history. Its origins are lost in the mists of time, because, already during prehistory, the territory of Bergheim had attracted man as confirmed by the excavations carried out in Grasberg.

After the Neolithic Age, the Bronze Age and the Iron Age, the Gallo-Roman civilization was established. Many discoveries, made mainly in the last century, especially the famous 1848 mosaic preserved in the Unterlinden museum in Colmar, confirm the importance of the Gallo-Roman settlement of Bergheim.
In 2006, a second Gallo-Roman mosaic and a heating chamber (Praefurnium) associated with a room on a hypocaust (underfloor heating) were discovered in the same place. The two mosaics dating from the 3rd century AD C. belonged to a vast and sumptuous villa of 7,800 m2 with dependencies.

After the barbarian invasions, which put an end to the domination of Rome, we find Bergheim cited for the first time after the year 700. From this moment, Bergheim changed feud and lord many times. Originally part of the Duchy of Alsace, the town passed by donation of one of the descendants of the Dukes of the possessions of the Abbey of Moyenmoutier in Lorraine and then sharing in that of the Diocese of Toul and finally in the course of the XIII century, as bastion of the Dukes of Lorraine, in the house of Ribeaupierre. It was like a property of the Ribeaupierre that Bergheim was burned in 1287 by the troops of General Hartmann de Baldeck, during the War of succession of Ribeaupierre.

Bergheim, a city full of history, presents to the visitor many proofs of those past days, such as walls, the church, the town hall, the venerable lime millennium in whose shadow popular festivals were held since 1300, or the beautiful early sundial of the 18th century whose inscription in the deep meaning recalls the precariousness of life "Sicut umbra fugit vita"; Like a shadow, it flees from life.
