From a trip with my family to the nord part of Denmark in Jutland only 40 - 50 km from Skagen.

We visit this beautiful carstle, an was on a guided tour inside, im'pressive!

In the eastern part of Vendsyssel, surrounded by Denmarks widest moat, one of the country’s finest an best preserved renaissance castles is to find.
Voergård, of which the oldest part was built in 1481 and the youngest in 1590, contains a various and unique collection of European art and furniture, including works of Goya, Rubens, Raphael and El Greco, as well as treasures from among others Napoleon, Louis XIV, Louis XVI and the personal furniture of Marie Antoinette.

Count Ejnar Oberbech-Clausen took over Voergård
in 1955 and brought home a comprehensive
collection of arts, antiquities and furniture from
his French castles and palaces, in which way he created one of the most distinguished private homes in Denmark.

On Voergård's up to 1,5 meter thick walls, you can find paintings of among others Rubens, El Greco, Watteu, Fragonnard, Raphael and Goya.
In the rest of the interior of the castle, several centuries of French history is mirrored. Here is to find the China that Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette used during their capture in Temple, besides two magnificent sideboards with gilted bronze plates and ornaments by Gouttiers, made by Louis XVI's court cabinetmaker Riesener. Only in Versailles and the Louvre, two similar pieces of furniture are to be found.

In the dining hall you can see the service, that Napoleon let manufacture in Sèvre during his 100-days government, along with two silver turrens, which were gifts from the Sunking to the Chenue-Lafitte family, after he had stayed at one of their castles, Mille-Secousses.
From the Pèan family, among other things come three antique flamish gobelins, a gift from Pope Pius IX to Henriette's uncle, General Pèan, in aknowledgement of the general defending the pope during the Italian liberation war.
