Photographer's Note

Nyhavn V

I had prepared two photos for today, one reflection view from Copenhagen and this rather traditional view of the famous Nyhavn and at the end I decided to post the last one, don't ask me why, the reflection photo will have to wait a little longer, but will surely be uploaded in the near future.
When I was in Copenhagen, I just couldn't resist to take some pictures of Nyhavn with such nice weather as we had.

This is not my first photo of Nyhavn, here there are links to the others:
- First a winter view from almost the same POV: Nyhavn
- An Indian Summer view: Nyhavn II
- A night view: Nyhavn by Night
- And of course a reflection view: Nyhavn Reflections
- And now also my fifth Nyhavn photo from a hot and sunny summer day in August.

Nyhavn (New Harbour) is very popular among tourists as well as the locals because of the many bars and restaurants. It is located in the heart of Copenhagen near the square Kongens Nytorv.
Nyhavn is one of the oldest parts of Copenhagen, it was built by King Christian V in the second half of the 17th century and was in that time called Nyhavnskanalen (New Harbour's Canal). The houses at Nyhavn are more than 300 years old and the oldest one is Nyhavn no.9, that dates back to 1681.
Fairytale-writer H.C. Andersen (1805-1875) is a famous resident of Nyhavn.
And as you can see in this picture, Nyhavn is also the harbour for the canal touring boats.

Hope you like it!

PS - Do you want to see more Nyhavn? Jeppe posted just after me a picture of Legoland's version of Nyhavn. Visit it here: Jeppe's Nyhavn
