Photographer's Note
Situated in a picturesque natural setting, facing the South, the sun and the sea, historical town of Hvar is today the main tourist centre of the island Hvar, and one of the favourite resorts on the Dalmatian Rivera.
Hvar lies in the cove protected by the Pakleni Islands in the South and a low crest in the North. Called "the Croatian Madera", is famous for its very specific climate with a lot of sunshine, very few rainy days and almost no snow at all. As a rule, hotel guests pay only half a price if it is raining for the whole day and nothing at all if it is snowing (which occurs almost never).

Below the trees - surrounded by medieval walls old town with the Renaissance cathedral of St. Stephen.
Further, on the hill - modern mansions of local inhabitants.
On the right - the Pakleni Islands and part of the old harbour.

Nice overview of the town. This looks like it could have been taken from the air, it's so detailed and the angle is so high. The red roofs make a nice contrast with the blue sea. Well done!

Piekna pocztowka z tego jednego z najbardziej urokliwych miasteczek na dalmatynskich wyspach (moim zdaniem). Fajne kolorki i dobrze, ze widac "piekielne wysepki", choc moglo sie ich tu zlapac wiecej... Stolica lawendowej wyspy zawsze mnie urzekala swoja dziewiczoscia i pieknymi widokami.

Hi Mat,
A postcard indeed. The tones and hues combine with the great lighting here for a marvellous scene. I like the smooth view of the harbour and the sailboats. The depth in the photo is so good that from this height one can see the curve of the horizon. Well done.

This is a beautiful landscape. VEry nice colors. The colors of the roofs and all these old stones; and the color of the sea.
I do like as well your composition and the use of wide angle is perfect here.

Your photos from Croatia are outstanding. They show the fabulous architecture in its natural context and I find it very useful and effective. Color rendition is good as well is the definition of your photographs. Thanks for reminding me my own trip to that beautiful country.
