Photographer's Note

Neretva river is 225 km long, it has its sources in Bosnia Herzegovina and empties into the Adriatic Sea in Croatia close to Dubrovnik. The estuary of the river forms a delta of total area of 120 km². It is an unique landscape, it was initially a gigantic marshland. Today it is drained by a system of canals which forms a patchwork of orange, lemon and tangerine orchards, melon plantations and vegetable gardens.
Local farmers get to their fields by boat.
A part of the delta is the Nature Reserve and natural nesting area for many water birds, carp and eel are reared in the fish-rich waters.
