Photographer's Note

Looking like ancient Egyptian Palace ruins, these strange columns are missing a few pineapple tops. It is adjacent to the Ruse Railway Station opened in 1955, but now looking a little the worse for wear. Perhaps Joseph Stalin of the USSR, liked sliced pineapple? The station is now partly in ruins. When it opened, it was the largest train station in the Balkans. Ruse (PYCE in Cyrillic) is on the south bank of the Danube River. North of the river is Romania.
