[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista [Francês]
About 10 kilometers from my house the abbey of Villers is a wonderfull place to picture ruins. The day I took this picture I noticed 4 other D70 on the site.
During the summer the abbey is used as a scene for open air theater representations. If you look carefully you can see some of the superstructures holding lights during the spectacle. They are more visible on the color version. I post it as a workshop.
Most of the pictures I took there are best renderd in B&W in my opinion. Let me know if you agree.
History:
In 1146, by invitation of the Lord of Marbais and his mother Judith, and through the impetus given by of Saint Bernard, one abbot, twelve monks and five lay brothers made the journey from Clairvaux to Villers to found an abbey there ... (further information here on the official site of the abbey.)

Bonjour Philippe,
Philippe

Philippe,
Why in BW? I find the WS in colour much better! But the ruin Abbey of Villers is indeed a wonderful view, I like old buildings and castles.
Merci du partage et visit.
Amitiés,
John.

Hi Philippe, Same as John, I do like the color one better. THe colored one provides more information and better color contrast. The B&W one, however, does emphasis on the architecture itself, the lines and the gray levels.
A well composed picture. Nice shot.

Ah, je vois que le Noir et Blanc a la cote en ce moment; j'en profite pour te remercier du WS sur ma galicienne.
L'endroit est magnifique et le Noir et Blanc lui va très bien.
Bravo
jean Michel

Tu as vu aussi des 350D? Enfin, la photo de ce site également pas loin de chez moi est très bien faite. J'aime la composition et je trouve que la version N/B est pas mal. Très bien vu!

Well, personally I prefer the color version. The main reason is that this is a busy composition with complex ruins in the background, leaves and branches in the foreground, structures… And BW mixes them a bit.

Color allow us to perceive better the different elements due to the color. Using the tree branches to frame the abbey is quite nice as it adds some mystery to the view.

Made a WS. Hope you’ll like it.

It's a nice angle where branches don't hinder but sort of enhance the ambiance. Gives it a window like feel with the way the subject is surrounded. I don't know about the black and white, though. The workshop of Jose does a nice job of warming up the image. Here in black and white there are too many details, I think. All the lines and textures want to compete and the ruins sort of disappear into it all. In color they stand out boldly while working in with their surroundings. But as I said the view is nice. A quaint peek into the setting. And it almost makes the ruins look like a model which is a neat effect. Like those miniatures of famous landmarks in different gardens.

Otimas texturas e contrastes nessa composição Philippe. Gosto dos graficos obtidos pelas formas.
Greetings.
aznegrao.
