Photographer's Note

This is a follow-up picture to my previous one, in which you saw the giants at rest. Here Grandma is walking, on her way to the square where she hopes to see her grandson.

The building in background is the MAS museum.

During the weekend of June 20-21, 2015 our city was enthralled by the giant marionettes of Royal de Luxe.

These two gentle giants visited us: a grandma and her grandson, the little black giant you see sleeping in the background here.

About a million people followed the performance on various locations in the city.

Royal de Luxe is a French mechanical marionette street theatre company. They were founded in 1979 in Aix-en-Provence by Jean-Luc Courcoult and are now based in Nantes. The company has performed in France, Belgium, England, Germany, Iceland, Chile, Australia, Mexico and Ireland.

They've visited Antwerp on several occasions, usually to open the summer festival season. And it is always a treat. Combining poetry with mass spectacle, Royal de Luxe puts up a performance for everyone to enjoy. No borders!

So summer has officially been opened.
Now we're just waiting for the sun...
