Photographer's Note

The houses on the market square in the historical centre of Antwerp were owned by the different trade and crafts guilds. It was custom to top the houses with gold statues reflecting their crafts or symbolize what they stood for. The statues also boasted the wealth of the guild, a form of advertising showing off how successful they were proving they were excellent business partners.
