Photographer's Note

Dusk settles on Ha Giang mountains...

THIS PICTURE was shot from the top floor of a brand new high-rise hotel on the outskirts of Ha Giang City. We stayed there because we travel with a family of three and they had the best triple room in town (said our guide).

A nothing special high-rise hotel, and I think we were the only guests there. The cleaning lady lived with her kids on the top floor and she kindly showed me the way up to the roof to take pictures.

This is the view of the terrain ahead of us.

HA GIANG is Vietnam's most northern province. It is mainly inhabited by Hmong and other minorities. It is a pretty rough place, but very beautiful. Ha Giang City is the regional capital and the main point of entry to the rest of the province.
