Photographer's Note

Hmong girls often get married and become mothers at a very young age. This young mum we spotted out at the market of Lung Phin. Both her skirt and the baby bag are traditional (Flower) Hmong style.

It's great to see many of the hill tribe people still wearing their traditional clothes. Making those traditional clothes is time-consuming, especially the embroidering, so though many hill tribe folks prefer buying them ready-made.
Here, I believe the baby bag is still handmade (I hope so!), I'm not sure about the skirt. My guess is was mass-produced, probably somewhere in southern China. I guess this is progress...
