Photographer's Note

Hoa Lu in the times of the Dinh dynasty (968 - 980) and the Le dynasty (980 - 1009) was the capital of Vietnam. It was a very good place to set the capital here due to a long distance from China, wich was the biggest enemy and threat, and also due to the landscape wich is alike the one in the Ha Long Bay. The difference is that there is no water here between the "mogotes" - big limestone mountain-like formations.
The ancient citadel is unfortunately partially damaged it covered an area of 2,5 square kilometers. The Royal Family used to live in the Palace inside the citadel wich was reinforced from the outside to protect from the enemy.
I have noticed a bunch of incense inside the citadel. The smell was incredible, so delicate not annoying....
