Photographer's Note

This is the panoramic view from the top of one of the larger temples in Pagan Archaeological Zone. It is hard to imagine the days when over 10,000 temples and pagodas rise from the flat land which was once the capital of the Pagan Kingdom from the 9th to the 13th Century, of which the remains of over 2200 temples and pagodas still survive to the present day, standing in silence.

Another misty morning sunrise and here was my attemnpt at capturing the ambience of sunlight breaking through the mist. It's amazing what effect the mist has on the ground, sky and camera as the atmosphere was changing by the minute, and being all alone on the aged marble terrace of the pagoda after a steep climb, was quite something really.....

It's so spectacular and you don't normally have to wait until the cows come home to capture one!!

Although the photo perhaps doesn't really do it justice, it really is quite magical.

Setting: 70 mm, 1/200 sec, F10, ISO Raw 200, 0631 hrs and GND filter to balance the sky with the foreground.
