Photographer's Note

Before 1985, transportation between the Penang island and the mainland (Malaysia) was solely dependent on the state-owned ferry services that runs between Butterworth and George Town.

The Penang Bridge was built in 1980 and completed in 1985, which has cost RM800 million to complete the whole project. The bridge was officially opened to traffic on September 14, 1985. The total length of the bridge is 13.5 km, making it one of the longest bridges in the world as well as a national landmark.
