Photographer's Note

the Fukagawa matsuri is one big festival in Tokyo, which happen every 3 years. on this Sunday, hundred of volunteers from many wards where carrying each ward "mikoshi" (portable shrines) around streets, watched by thousand of enthousiast spectators.
Mikoshi are pretty heavy, so they had to exchange carriers often, and you could see on some of their faces how tired they were, yet so proud to carry the mikoshi.
The feeling and atmosphere were so great, with each team huming loudly "hey ho" and claping hands to encourage each other.
the rain you can see is not rain, but water coming from big fire hose, carried by firemen to refresh the crowd!
