[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista
Observatory Hill in Darjeeling, overlooking Kanchenjunga, the worlds 3rd highest mountain. The original print scan, has been heavily post processed, to attempt to bring out some detail in the Himalayas. It looks more like a painting now, than a photograph.

Observatory Hill is also where the Snow Leopard Research Stn is located. (amongst the trees.)

Taken on a very cold winters morning just after sunrise. There are lots of cooking fires throughout the town, emitting smoke, both early morning & late evening at sunrise / sunset. Frustrating for photographers!

hi chris, nice handling of the tonal range: from the darker shadowed fg, through well-lit observatory hill, up till the bg peaks of white!

Hello Chris,
One word to say: SUPERB!!
The POV and DOf are excellent.
bravo!
Alex

Hi Chris!
I like the three different levels of light mood here, first the foreground with it´s cold colors in the shadow, than the warm-toned Observatory hill, and in the background the foggy view on the Kanchenjunga.
Well done!

This loks almost unreal. The mountains emerging from the mist in the background look more like a book illustration. Very nice quality to this.

Difficult conditions to take a photo indeed and the overall quality is not exactly top notch - but overall the unique scenery including the snow-capped mountain in the back is very well conveyed and I'm definitely glad you did press the shutter that morning. Interesting view, Chris.

Great perspective! The early morning light is wonderful, and the distant mountains behind are what really make this photo special. Thanks for sharing it.

Hi Chris, This observatory hill and mountain Kanchenjunga are beautifully shown in this well composed picture. The morning sunlight shining straightly from the right hand side made the near hill and far mountain look beautiful. A well taken picture with a very nice clarity. You have done a great job in your PP. The quality of this photo shows great.

hello Chris, this place is just wonderful, I wish I could be there one day, but if I can't, thank you for this view of the top of the world. I think it shall be hard to take this picture, and hard to work on it too. Thanks.

lovely photo, darjeeling is a place we will discover something new everytime we visit. the experience of seing kanchenjungha with this shadow-effect is very nice! thanks for posting this photo to TE.

It's for sure not your best Chris,
but even, with the note and the little mountain in the dof you made a very nice result, very good job,

Nice colors. Postcard quality. A tighter crop at the right can make this photo even better.

Hi Chris
Love the shadow of the mountain at the background, eventhough there are three levels of perspective here. Well composed.
Well done.

HI Chris,
Its a very nice point of view. I like the mountains on the back. I think you could crop off the building on the righta and play a bit with PP cause the light is a bit harsh.
Regards
Daniel

Hi Chris,
What a wonderful image, with a specially mention for the splendid mountains on the background.
Very well done!
John.

Good evening,
Indeed it looks like a painting, amazing picture and you chose a nice place to take this beautiful photo. I also enjoy colors,
Regards, Łukasz

Don't know if you should be frustrated Chris, the smoke has created an atmosphere and is really nice when the light falls throught it. I like what you did with the mountains, they look dreamish now, as you wrote, like a painting.

Yes, it looks a bitlike a painting, and I think that you have made a good PP job in order to bring life to this picture. The Far mountains look like clouds, NBeautiful one, Chris.

Hi Chris!!
Gosto desse angulo, ele cria uma perspectiva bem ampla, bela e informativa, que aliada as belas cores e contrastes cria uma composição muito agradável.
