[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista
Siliguri Junction is where I caught the toy train to Darjeeling in the Himalaya foothills. Siliguri Junction itself is on the coastal plain & is flat. Although many Indians today wear Western clothing like jeans & tshirts, there are still some that wear more traditional garb. These guys are snakecharmers. There are live cobras inside the hessian bags.

Interesting daily life shot, showing a lot of local detail. Maybe a bit too much going on for a great compo, but very a fascinating scene.

Hello Chris,

Nice picture, not usual, we can smell the perfume of India. Your note is intersting

Cheers
Greg

Interesting scene, Chris, with the folks waiting by the diagonal tracks. The colorful signs add interest and also work well as an additional element in the overall framing. Good colors.

Hi Chris,
Very very colorful, sharp and well composed image. Very good DoF and all the details so visible.
The only point draw my attention is that it seems,as if, some of them are hiding their faces. Aren't they??
Very good job and thanks for sharing...

Hi Chris, nice colourful picture! I like it how they form a group, although I never understood why they flock together, I'd say, when you're on your own, the chnace that you get some people who take a look, is much bigger.
I like your lond DoF, thaer's miuch to be seen here.

Bonjour Chris,

Strong image I find here. Those are scary bags - cobras really??? - I fond that there is good contrasts with these traditional garb and the surroundings.
Nicely done.

Hi Chris,
There are great contrast here between the signboards and the others but you managed to harmonized all the elements through you composition and POV. You must be lucky to have all the snakecharmers there! Congratulations!!!

Pierre

Before I read your note I was trying to think where Siliguri Junction is. I know I have been through it. So glad you told me or I would have had that nagging feeling all night. Goof DOF here as there is a lot too see in this shot.....maybe its a bit too busy, but so is India :)

And you took the train with these guys and all their filled bags?!? You crazy man. I like the unusual scenery here, still reinforced by the yellow sign. The Pov and angle is very good, I like these guys sitting almost under the "Stop" sign!

HAPPY Easter Chris

Hi Chris,
I'm always surprised when I find out that stories I've been told when I was a child seem to be for real. Never really thought that snake charmers where real, or at least not as abundant as here. I like the signs and the scattered people. Rural meets urban kind of feel here.

Simon

Great idea, this photo of platform... Not only the snake charmers, but the signs and the people crossing the railway lines. I think that I must have passed there at least 10 times, changing trains or just passing by (or from train to bus and reverse too) - so that photo has for me a special interest !
TFS,
Cath.
